Largest OBGYN group in bedroom community to Philadelphia is looking to build a Laborist program and add OBGYN Generalist to complement their growing group. They will start with 1 and add 2 more in the next 6-12 months. They are new to this model so pretty flexible on EVERYTHING, for the right candidate. They currently employ 17 obgyn physicians, 2 of whom do GYN only and 2 who do OBGYN and Urogynecology. Those that do OB share call (12 hour call and if on day call you are in office). They work with 6 NPs in the office and 13 CNMs who do 90% of the deliveries and physicians back CNMs up. The group does about 2500 deliveries annually and the CNMs do most of the deliveries. Laborists will be expected to do 3-4 12 hr calls weekly, 12-16 12hrs calls monthly (or 2 24hr calls weekly and 8 24 hr shifts monthly, but prefer 12 hr coverage). The group will work with candidates on schedule (ie: they will be flexible so if candidate wants to do the call in 2-3 weeks, they could have 1-3 weeks off a month). They do expect Laborists to do some nights, weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule. Since midwifery is embedded in their practice, the CNMs take the lion’s share of call so Laborist would be backing up CNM and be responsible for all of the emergent GYN as well. They would be covering the group’s patients only and no unassigned patients. There is no office or clinic coverage, it is straight hospital coverage. They are competitive on hourly pay and will also cover malpractice (Claims made tail negotiable). Benefits are also negotiable.
For generalist: There is a partnership track The group has multiple offices and physicians work out of the main office and 2-3 satellite offices. They admit to a large community hospital which has a level III nursery and all services in-house. They are talking about moving to a brand new facility which should be finished Fall 2021 and they will be the only OBGYN group providing OB services there. They are integrated with a midwifery program so practice does 2500 deliveries but physicians are primarily back up for deliveries. You take your call in conjunction with the CNMs and Laborist. For generalist there is a streamlined partnership track and bonus incentives including full benefits
